In early Spring, soccer players are in the middle of their season while baseball and softball players are preparing themselves for the season to come. While many of the children who participate in these sports are ready and willing to embrace the challenges that organized sports have to offer, many others aren't.
For some children, it's not the physical challenges that drive them off the playing field, it's competition itself. For these kids, the thrill of kicking a goal, sinking a basketball or hitting a homerun is overshadowed by the factthat at the end of the game, there willbe winners and losers.
